Contributed to coverage of Miami-Dade school budget crisis and failed attempt to fire its superintendent. Filed radio stories for WLRN-Miami Herald News. Collaborated with videographers.

Covered Montgomery County, one of the nation’s 100 fastest growing areas. Reported for online and weekly neighborhood news section. Beats included business, government and religion. Followed state legislation to change the suburb’s government. Blogged daily on neighborhood news. Filed regularly for the web and wrote four print stories a week. Published more than 400 bylines.

Joined start-up Spanish daily before it launched in four Texas cities with a circulation of 267,000. Within six months, promoted to full-time reporter in Houston. Covered business, politics and government. One of two reporters sent on assignment to Louisiana and Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. Returned to New Orleans six months later to report on immigrants rebuilding the city. Covered Hurricane Rita evacuation, 2005 local elections and a City Hall scandal. Published more than 300 bylines across five sections.
